WHEREAS, the abandonment of approximately 149 linear feet of existing 12-inch water main (CIP) and one fire hydrant assembly, and the acceptance of approximately 129 linear feet of new 12-inch water main (DIP) and one fire hydrant assembly, for property located at 501 South 2nd Street, also known as Shelby Avenue WL Relocation, are needed to construct project number 26-WL-18; and,

WHEREAS, BL2024-345 authorizes the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services to approve extensions, additions, improvement, or works by resolution of the Metropolitan Council; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Planning Commission approved mandatory referral No. 2026M-032ES-001 on April 13, 2026, for the abandonment and acceptance of said water mains and fire hydrant assemblies.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is authorized to abandon approximately 149 linear feet of existing 12-inch water main (CIP) and one fire hydrant assembly, and to accept approximately 129 linear feet of new 12-inch water main (DIP) and one fire hydrant assembly, for property located at 501 South 2nd Street, also known as Shelby Avenue WL Relocation, as shown on Exhibit 1, which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference.

Section 2.                     The Directors of Water and Sewerage Services and Public Property Administration are authorized to execute such documents as may be necessary and appropriate to carry out the abandonment and acceptance authorized by this resolution.

Section 3.                     This resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Tennessee Code Annotated § 7-35-406(A)(2) and Ordinance No. BL2024-345 allow the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services to approve extension, additions, or works by resolution of the Metropolitan Council.
