WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration, Strategic Technology Solutions, accepted an application for a SLCGP grant from the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Information Technology Services Department, to utilize cybersecurity awareness training and deploy an Endpoint Detection and Response solution; and,

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration, Strategic Technology Solutions, has awarded a SLCGP grant to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Information Technology Services Department, to utilize cybersecurity awareness training and deploy an Endpoint Detection and Response solution; and,

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration, Strategic Technology Solutions, has allocated 9261 licenses for Endpoint Detection and Response and 25 licenses for End User Cybersecurity Awareness Training in lieu of direct funding with no required cash match, to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Information Technology Services Department; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that the grant application be approved and the grant award be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the SLCGP application and grant award from the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration, Strategic Technology Solutions, to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Information Technology Services Department, to utilize cybersecurity awareness training and deploy an Endpoint Detection and Response solution, copies of which are attached hereto and incorporated herein, are hereby approved.

Section 2.                     That the licenses described in the grant contract be allocated to the Information Technology Services Department.

Section 3.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution would approve a State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (“SLCGP”) application and accept a SLCGP grant award from the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration to the Information Technology Services Department to utilize cybersecurity awareness training and deploy an Endpoint Detection and Response solution.

 

The grant program is part of the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program, which was established through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The grant awards 9,261 licenses for Endpoint Detection and Response and 25 licenses for End User Cybersecurity Awareness in lieu of direct funding. The licenses are estimated to be worth $1,435,825.44 over four years. No cash match is required. The grant period is from June 3, 2024, to August 31, 2026.
