A resolution honoring Adrian Budnick for her volunteer work with Metropolitan Nashville Animal Care and Control.

body

WHEREAS, Adrian Budnick has been a volunteer with Metropolitan Nashville Animal Care and Control (“MACC”) for over a decade; and

WHEREAS, Adrian has dedicated countless volunteer hours to MACC walking dogs, participating in events, and everything in between; and

WHEREAS, Adrian’s passion for photography and love of her two adopted dogs led her to volunteer to photograph MACC’s adoptable dogs; and

WHEREAS, during the COVID-19 pandemic and the unprecedented increase in shelter populations across the nation, Adrian wanted to help more; and

WHEREAS, Adrian began creating TikToks, first producing skits involving “Anita Walker, the Used Pet Salesperson” and then launching her “What’s This Then?” series all highlighting shelter animals; and

WHEREAS, the “What’s This Then?” series included invented humorous breeds such as the “Nashville Hot Chicken Spaniel,” the “Brindal Pitt-o-potomous,” the “Teacup Werewolf,” the “Himalayan Fur Goblin,” the “Dry Creek River Otter,” and the “Quilted Pillow Puppy”; and

WHEREAS, Adrian’s creativity led to viral videos and increased attention on shelter dogs at MACC; and

WHEREAS, dog adoptions increased over 25% between 2021 and 2024, thanks in no small part to Adrian’s videos, which have garnered millions of views, brought in adopters from across the country and Canada, and inspired shelters nationwide to develop their own campaigns using Adrian’s catchphrase; and

WHEREAS, Adrian was recognized as the Writer’s Choice for “Best Adoption Campaign” by the Nashville Scene in its Best of Nashville 2024; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council honor and recognize Adrian for her hard work and dedication in finding homes for Nashville’s shelter dogs and express appreciation for her volunteer work with MACC.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
