A resolution honoring the service and conduct of Sheila Rigsby, District 13’s Neighborhood Watch Coordinator.

WHEREAS, Sheila Rigsby is a Nashville native who has passionately served her community for many years; and
WHEREAS, in the spring of 2019, Ms. Rigsby restarted the District 13 Neighborhood Watch program and became the Neighborhood Watch Coordinator. She has been the Neighborhood Watch Coordinator for four years; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Rigsby had a goal of educating the public by inviting the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the Nashville Fire Department, and Metro Water Services to present about government services and personal safety at Neighborhood Watch meetings; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Rigsby’s Neighborhood Watch Facebook page is used by many in District 13 to stay informed about crime, weather, and elections, and share helpful safety tips for the community; and
WHEREAS, in addition to running the Neighborhood Watch Facebook page and holding meetings, she has provided Neighborhood Watch safety content for the District 13 newsletter; and
WHEREAS, outside of her Neighborhood Watch duties, she has served her community by volunteering with various organizations including organizing book drives for the Metropolitan Police Department little libraries; and
WHEREAS, she’s also invited candidates and representatives to meet constituents and hear about their concerns at Neighborhood Watch meetings; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Rigsby has worked diligently for the community all while being a full-time student and working; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper for the Metropolitan Council to recognize Ms. Rigsby for her tremendous contributions to District 13 and the Nashville community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring the service and conduct of Sheila Rigsby, the outgoing Neighborhood Watch Coordinator for District 13.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be given to Sheila Rigsby.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
