WHEREAS, BL2025-912 approved a pilot project between Vanderbilt University (“VU”) and the Metropolitan Government Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Department of Water and Sewerage Services (“MWS”), for the provision of early warning detection for water management systems; and,
WHEREAS, the pilot project approved in BL2025-912 included a description of the project and a budget justification totaling $248,405; and
WHEREAS, the parties wish to enter into a formal agreement setting forth details of the project, including confidentiality terms, as set forth in the Sponsored Research Agreement, attached hereto as Exhibit A; and,
WHEREAS, BL2025-912 approved amendments by resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That BL2025-912 is hereby amended by approving the Sponsored Research Agreement between Vanderbilt University and the Metropolitan Government Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Department of Water and Sewerage Services, and the director of the Department of Water and Sewerage Services, or his designee, is authorized to execute the Sponsored Research Agreement.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution amends Ordinance No. BL2025-912 to approve a Sponsored Research Agreement between Vanderbilt University (“Vanderbilt”) and the Department of Water and Sewerage Services (“MWS”).
Ordinance No. BL2025-912 approved a two-year pilot project between Vanderbilt and MWS to develop an early warning detection for water management systems to enhance reliability and efficiency of water infrastructure management. The ordinance included a description of the project and budget of $248,405.
The Sponsored Research Agreement affirms the original budget and timeline while adding confidentiality terms. BL2025-912 authorizes amendments by resolution.
Fiscal Note: Metro will reimburse Vanderbilt University in an amount not to exceed $248,405 for the cost of completing the Statement of Work of the Early Warning Detection of Water Management Systems project.
