Agenda Analysis
Analysis
This resolution approves a joint funding agreement between the Department of Information Technology Services (“ITS”) and the U.S. Department of Interior, United States Geological Survey to acquire approximately 9,472 miles of elevation-derived hydrography (“EHD”), which was developed from topographic LiDAR in Middle Tennessee. EHD uses LiDAR data, manmade features, and detailed landscape classifications to develop accurate representations of water flow patterns.
The data collected through this agreement would support dam safety, hydraulic design, environmental compliance and enforcement, long-range planning, and water resource protection.
The Metropolitan Government would contribute $100,000 as part of the agreement, which includes several other local governments. The term of the agreement ends on April 30, 2027.
T.C.A. § 12-9-104 authorizes the Metropolitan Government to enter into intergovernmental agreements by resolution of the Metropolitan Council.
Fiscal Note: Metro would pay not to exceed $100,000 to U.S. Department of Interior, U.S Geological Survey (USGS) to acquire 9,472 miles of Elevation Derived Hydrography.
