An ordinance authorizing The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to abandon existing public water mains, and to accept new public water mains and fire hydrant assemblies, for property located at 1215 21st Avenue South, also known as VUMC Link Tower (MWS Project No. 23-WL-71 and Proposal No. 2023M-159ES-001).

WHEREAS, the abandonment of approximately 1,882 linear feet of existing six-inch water main (CI) and approximately 1,714 linear feet of existing 12-inch water main (CI), and the acceptance of approximately 1,263 linear feet of new 12-inch water main (DIP), approximately 39 linear feet of new 10-inch water main (DIP), approximately 121 linear feet of new eight-inch water main (DIP), approximately 135 linear feet of new six-inch water main (DIP), and three fire hydrant assemblies, for property located at 1215 21st Avenue South, also known as VUMC Link Tower, are needed to construct project number 23-WL-71; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Planning Commission approved mandatory referral No. 2023M-159ES-001 on October 18, 2023, for the abandonment and acceptance of said water mains and fire hydrant assemblies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is authorized to abandon approximately 1,882 linear feet of existing six-inch water main (CI) and approximately 1,714 linear feet of existing 12-inch water main (CI), and to accept approximately 1,263 linear feet of new 12-inch water main (DIP), approximately 39 linear feet of new 10-inch water main (DIP), approximately 121 linear feet of new eight-inch water main (DIP), approximately 135 linear feet of new six-inch water main (DIP), and three fire hydrant assemblies, for property located at 1215 21st Avenue South, also known as VUMC Link Tower, as shown on Exhibit 1, which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference.

Section 2. The Directors of Water and Sewerage Services and Public Property Administration are authorized to execute such documents as may be necessary and appropriate to carry out the acceptance authorized by this ordinance.
Section 3. Amendments to this legislation shall be approved by resolution.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Fiscal Note: This ordinance has no cost to Metro. Abandoned and donated easements have no market value according to the Department of Water Services.
