A resolution approving an application for a Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness grant from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Office of Emergency Management, to provide resources to procure items, training and/or equipment for hazardous materials (hazmat) preparedness.

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency is accepting applications for a  Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness grant with an award of $97,563.00 with a required cash match of $24,390.75; and, 

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the application for a Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness grant with an award of $97,563.00, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Office of Emergency Management is authorized to submit said grant application to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency.

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

If the grant application is awarded, the grant award would be $97,563 with a required local cash match of $24,390.75. The grant proceeds would be used to provide resources to procure items, training and/or equipment for hazardous materials (hazmat) preparedness. The term of the grant would be October 1, 2021 to September 14, 2022.
