A resolution accepting a Hazard Mitigation Grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Military, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Department of Water and Sewerage Services, and authorizing the acquisition and demolition of seven houses located in various floodways/floodplains in Davidson County (Proposal No. 2021M-017PR-001).

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council previously enacted Ordinance BL2010-765 which authorized the Department of Water and Sewerage Services to apply for federal and state funds to acquire interests in and demolish flood-damaged properties pursuant to a hazard mitigation grant program upon approval of a resolution by the Metropolitan Council receiving at least twenty-one affirmative votes which identifies the specific parcels to be acquired and the maximum price to be paid for each parcel; and,
WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Military, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, has awarded a Hazard Mitigation Grant in an amount not to exceed $1,005,939.38 and a required cash match of $143,705.62 for the acquisition and demolition of seven houses located in various floodways/floodplains in Davidson County; and,
WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Planning Commission approved mandatory referral No. 2021M-017PR-001 on October 11, 2021, for acquisition of the properties; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted and that the Department of Water and Sewerage Services be authorized to acquire and demolish the seven properties as specified in the grant (Exhibit 1) and as shown in Exhibit 2.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
